About us

Meet Jacqueline C. Westcott, O.D., F.A.A.O.

Visionary Eye Center of Jupiter, Florida, is proud to introduce Dr. Westcott.

Hailing from Jupiter, Florida originally, Dr. Jacqueline Westcott obtained her undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Florida. She also minored in mathematics and business administration while at UF. To earn her Doctorate of Optometry and an additional bachelor's degree in vision science, she attended NOVA Southeastern University College of Optometry in Davie, Florida. Her ophthalmologist residency program focused on Ocular Disease and Geriatrics Management at SUNY College of Optometry and Woodhull Hospital. Both institutions are located in New York City.

This program gave her extra help caring for patients with complicated medical cases. She got to work alongside some of the world's most renowned vision scientists, optometrists, and ophthalmologists. The best part of her residency experience was working in a hospital setting under the supervision of prominent New York doctors. They taught her how to manage care on a multidisciplinary level. After finishing her residency, Dr. Westcott moved back to Jupiter, Florida to be near her family again.

To become a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, an optometrist must meet many qualifications and be evaluated against professional competence standards. This is very difficult to do, and only a small number of optometrists in Florida have done it — and Dr. Westcott is among those who have. Fellows of the American Academy of Optometry uphold higher standards for patient care than optometrists who are not members of the Fellowship. In addition to completing board requirements, fellows must also agree to continue education courses that exceed state licensing boards.

Dr. Westcott has been published in Optometry and Vision Science Journal, a prominent scientific peer-reviewed journal. OCT in a Myelinated Retinal Nerve Fiber Syndrome with Reduced Vision. Dr. Westcott is obtaining additional fellowships from the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (FCOVD) and the Scleral Lens Education Society (FSLS). She is committed to staying on top of the latest developments in the field so she can provide the best care and eye exam for her patients.

She loves being an eye doctor, working out, swimming, biking and going to the beach. As an avid reader with a passion for learning new things, she also enjoys playing guitar and spending time with her nieces and nephews. She is very active in her community.
